7 Deadliest Martial Arts
In this age, if you told someone that you are or were learning martial arts, they probably wouldn’t be surprised. If you are learning a martial art, I would assume that you may also be trained to break some boards and bricks. But, did you know that most of these do not fall under the category of the deadliest martial arts in the world?
Learning martial arts has become both a fashion as well as necessity in this age. The most common martial arts include Karate, Kung Fu, and Boxing, Tae Kwon Do or that sort. However, when most of these train you to break boards, give you belts and let you appear for tournaments, there are deadlier martial arts which train you to break real people. Yes, you heard it right. These are martial arts which believe in the philosophy “boards do not hit back”. If you are learning any of the above mentioned martial arts, these deadly martial arts may actually put you to shame. Let us see some of these deadliest martial arts which make it to the top 7.
The 7 deadliest martial arts in the world
Now, you need to understand that each of these martial arts have their own advantages and drawbacks. Hence, it is hard for us to rank them in order. Another disclaimer is that there are umpteen martial arts forms in the world, some of them possibly deadlier than the ones mentioned here. Nonetheless, these are the ones which are gaining popularity.
- Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do
Even after the advent of many modern martial art techniques and mixed martial arts, Jeet Kune Do still remains one of the deadliest martial arts. Created by Bruce Lee, this martial art incorporates the best of boxing, Wing Chun Kung Fu, fencing and several other martial art forms. Forget all the flashy moves which you see in a typical Chinese martial arts movie. Jeet Kune Do means business. If you are not inflicting a deep wound to your opponent or able to defend yourself from the opponent within a few seconds or minutes, you have wasted your energy and power.

- Krav Maga
Krav Maga has begun to become popular only in recent times. This deadly martial arts form comes from Israel. Krav Maga means “hand to hand combat”. Though this may not be considered martial arts by many people, it is good enough to be included in the Israeli Special Forces, one of the elite forces in the world. It teaches different techniques in grappling, wrestling, and striking in order to neutralize any kind of threats (which includes weapons). It focuses on teaching you to make even a small mundane object a deadly weapon against your enemy by aiming at his/her most vulnerable body parts.

- Muay Thai
The list of deadly martial arts won’t be complete without Muay Thai. This is the national sport of Thailand. It is a deadly art and is sometimes referred to as the “King of martial arts” for a reason. Whilst most martial arts teach you to use four contact points using fists and feet to deliver punches and kicks, this martial art teaches you to use your elbows, shins, knees and hands too in order to deliver deadly blows to the opponent. This fighting form was born out of a deadlier art called Muay Boran. However, Muay Boran was considered too dangerous to practice as it involved lot of injuries while practicing. Hence, you may find this art rarely taught. Muay thai is a staple and most popular art among mixed martial artists. The best way to end a fight using Muay Thai is by delivering a deadly elbow or a knee while holding your opponent in a clinch.

Can you imagine any other warrior as dangerous and lethal as a ninja? A ninja can definitely make a chill run down your spine. Though ninjas may have long gone, the dark art of the ninjas still exists and it is nothing less than deadly. Ninjas were deadly assassins for the reason that their key asset was stealth. They were experts in finishing an opponent when he/she least expected it. Though, in the modern world, it is very rare of the existence of these deadly assassins, the art is still used for self-defense. It teaches the practitioner the best way of using the Samurai katana (sword) and any other weapon. And how can I forget the stealth attack it teaches its practitioners?

- Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been a popular martial art for a long time. But very few people are practitioners of this martial art form. Jiu Jitsu is famous for its technique of leveraging the opponent’s force to neutralize him/her. Jiu Jitsu is not about strength or deadly strikes. It is all about applying chokes, joint locks and how effectively you use your opponent’s own force to take him down. A person who knows only kicks and punches is no match for a Jiu Jitsu practitioner who can easily use armbars and sweeps.

When a country is oppressed by aggressors, the oppressed become deadly and a martial art style is born. Silat was a martial art form born in a similar situation when Malaysia was brutalized by oppressors such as Portuguese, British and even Japan. Silat was born purely out of the necessity to kick out the invaders who thought it was cool to ravage a country to take control of the South Pacific. Silat involves closing in on an opponent as quickly as possible, beat him completely within a few seconds and finish him off with hammer blow to the kidney, throat or face. It even encourages crotch shots.
