Usually post surgical care involves checking the response of the patient to the surgery and even checking the occurrence of the infection. If you are having severe headaches and body aches after surgery, you must consult the medical practitioner because it can be a symptom of the infection.
Fever: Mild fever is common post surgery, but if temperature is as high as 101 degrees Celsius, then one must worry about it. Hence, it is must to keep a track of the body temperature as you can consult the doctor if you have mild fever. Along with fever, one may also experience malaise, headaches and body aches. Malaise may be present without fever.
Pus and drainage: Pus and drainage can be an alarming symptom of infection. If the incision site is infected because of any factor, pus forms in the area. One can observe thick greenish yellow liquid like substance oozing out from the site. Sometimes, one may also observe pus with blood tinge along with it. Speak to the health care provider if you are experiencing this to prevent further complications.
Hot incision: This is another symptom that one can observe post surgery. It is an indication of an infection and that your body is combating the infection.
Other signs and symptoms:
- Breathing problems
- Loss of appetite or unable to eat food properly
- Problems in passing stool and/or urination
- Vomiting with or without blood
- Discoloration of urine and stool
