Eating Broccoli Can Prevent Cancer – Study Confirms!

BroccoliAfter reading this article you might want to consider the thought of including broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, radish and turnip to name a few in your diet if you are not a great fan of them.

According to a new study conducted by a research team from Linus Pauling Institute, sulforaphone, a compound found in broccoli and its family members helps in preventing cancer by targeting and destroying the tumor cells selectively without causing any harm to the healthy cells.

Sulforaphone has the properties of inhibiting histone deacetylase or HDAC enzymes. Inhibition of these enzymes as a treatment option has been the target of dietary and pharmaceutical set ups.

According to Emily Ho, the lead author of the study, the presence of a nutrient or a phytochemical in a particular vegetable does not mean it is always safe. But in this case, the phytochemical in broccoli has been proven to selectively destroy the cancer causing cells.
