Too Much Sun can Cause Cancer in Babies
Do not expose your baby to too much direct sunlight, warn researchers at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Over-exposure to sunlight can cause skin cancer in babies, they say.
Babies have more sensitive skin compared to adults. Therefore, they need extra protection from the sun’s harmful Ultra-Violet rays. New parents need to be careful and protect their babies, when they go out.
The AAP recommends application of sunscreen on babies older than six months. For babies, parents should use gentler creams, which can be used even on babies only a few weeks old.
Other useful defenses against sun exposure are avoiding harsh daylight during the hottest hours and wearing protective clothing. You also need to select an effective physical sunscreen which contains zinc oxide or titanium oxide. These are better than chemical sunscreens
