Tai Chi Can Improve Mental Health of Seniors
A study of medical research on tai Chi reveals that this ancient Chinese art can improve the mental health of senior citizens. South Korean and British researchers studied results obtained from 35 researches on tai Chi.
They found positive evidence that tai chi improved psychological wellbeing and balance in elderly practitioners. However, the sport was ineffective in treating rheumatoid arthritis and cancer symptoms.
The researchers also said that there was no conclusive evidence about whether tai chi improved osteoporosis, muscle strength, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and other health conditions. The review was published by the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
