Tornadoes Take Heavy Toll of Alabama Populace
Hospitals in Alabama are receiving a deluge of dead bodies because of the ravaging impact of this week’s tornadoes. In Tuscaloosa, the poorest neighborhoods were the most affected by the storms.
In Alabama alone 228 people were killed and the total toll in south U.S. was 328. President Barack Obama was in Tuscaloosa on Friday to survey the damage. Apart from the dead, hundreds of others are receiving treatment in hospitals for injuries. Common reported injuries are crushes from falling material and trauma due to heavy winds slamming bodies into stony objects.
Many children have lost their parents in the storms and are experiencing grief and trauma.
