iPhones and Android Devices Now Offering Voice to the Speechless
A new app called MyVoice which is now available on the App stores of both Apple and Google can now provide voice to people who have lost the ability to speak because of problems like aphasia, apraxia, autism or any other condition that could have lead to the impairment of speech. This app comes with words and pictures which when tapped give out an audio output and would convey simple messages. This app can now become the voice of these speech impaired people.
This MyVoice app is the first of its kind augmentative communication devices that also makes use of the user’s location to suggest various relevant words and phrases the user might find useful. People who lose their speech mid-way through their lives because of Autism spectrum disorders can experience severe isolation. This app can help them get more involved and independent as well.
