Mini Exercise Machine Can Reduce Harmful Effects of Sedentary Lifestyle

The sedentary lifestyle which has become a norm these days is causing lot of health problems to many of us. According to a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, portable pedal machines can come to our rescue to lessen the harmful,effects of spending prolonged periods at the desk or workstation. The findings are based on the results obtained from observing 18 full-time employees.

Most of the volunteers were females and overweight. The average age was 40 and they all had sedentary lifestyle. The participants were wired to an exercise tracking device through their computer to provide the information. It was noticed that the volunteers used the pedal machine 12 out of 20 working days for an average 23 minutes. They covered a distance of about 13.5 miles per day and burned 9 to 500 calories. The authors say that mini exercise bike can greatly improve health if done for just 23 minutes in a day.

These machines are quite inexpensive and easy to use even while working. Many such devices are conveniently available in the market.
