Someone once said, “We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” Some of the celebrities mentioned below did create a legacy that will live on forever. They were successful, talented and all died young.
Marilyn Monroe, Actress (June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962)
Marilyn Monroe floored the world with her flamboyance and beauty. The 36-year old sensation was found dead in her apartment. She died of poisoning. However, many conspiracy theories surround the death of America’s original sweetheart.
James Dean, Actor (February 8, 1931 – September 30, 1955)
This “Rebel” left the world at the ripe, young age of 24. In this short span of time, James Dean became a cult icon of his generation. On September 30, 1955, James Dean participated in an auto rally only to be met with a fatal car accident.
Heath Ledger, Actor (April 4, 1979 – January 22, 2008)
28 is definitely not an age to succumb to death. Sadly, that’s what happened with this Academy award winning actor. The famous clown from “The Dark Knight” died of accidental over-dosage of prescription drugs.
Bruce Lee, Martial artist (November 27, 1940 – July 20, 1973)
This versatile man was an actor, martial artist, director, screenwriter and philosopher. He became a cultural icon in just 32 years of his life. Bruce Lee suffered from cerebral edema and died of hypersensitivity to muscle relaxant present in Equagesic at the peak of his career.
Aaliyah, Singer (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001)
Quite ironically, this singer/ actress had a premonition about her death. Unfortunately, her intuitions came true when she and her crew members were killed in a tragic plane crash. Aaliyah was just 22 years old and had a bright future in singing.
Lady Diana, Princess of Wales (July 1, 1961 – August 31, 1997)
Lady Diana was the darling of England. Her angelic face, captivating smile and amiable disposition won the hearts of millions. Her immortal beauty and youth were captured in her untimely death in a car crash at 37. Around 2.5 billion people watched the funeral of their beloved princess.
River Phoenix, Actor (August 23, 1970 – October 31, 1993)
Listed as one of the promising actors in 1986, River Phoenix was a highly talented actor. The young actor was also an animal-rights activist and a vegan. But as luck would have it, River Phoenix died of drug overdose at the age of 23.
Bob Marley, Singer (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981)
Bob Marley made reggae and Jamaican music a rage. Time chose his album “Exodus” as the greatest album of the 20th century. Too bad that he spent only 36 years with us. After fighting with cancer for eight months he finally succumbed to it.
Kurt Cobain, Singer (February 20, 1967- April 5, 1994)
The lead singer of the Nirvana band, is remembered as one of the most iconic figures of our times. He was suffering from clinical depression and was into substance abuse which is said to lead to suicide at the age of 27.
Jim Morrison, Singer (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971)
The lead singer of the band, The Doors, was ranked 45th on “Greatest Singers of All Times” list. 27 year old Jim was found dead in his bathtub. Many rumors and conspiracy theories surround the death of Jim Morrison.
