Fortunately, the outcome of the disease is excellent with survival rate of 85 percent up to 10 years. This article tries to gain further insight on the signs of this rare disease.

Symptoms of Adamantinoma:

  • Bone pain that has been present for months to years
  • Limping
  • Localized swelling at tumor site
  • Reduced movement of affected limb
  • History of trauma may be elicited
  • Localized redness at tumor site
  • Increased bone pain with activity
  • Dull ache

Facts on Adamantinoma:

Tibia bones are the large and strong bones in the legs below the knees. They connect the knee to the ankles and are the second largest bones in the human body. The above mentioned signs of this cancer are most exclusively found to be developing in these bones in the initial stages.

There are two type of this cancer, namely; the classic and differentiated. The former affects people above the age of 20 years and the latter affects individuals below 20 years.

The tumor is a slowly growing one and because of its rare nature it is not possible to predict the mortality rate precisely. If the symptoms are diagnosed on time, the tumor can be removed through surgery.

Unfortunately, successful treatment methods for other cancer types like chemotherapy and radiation therapy are not useful in treating this rare bone cancer.
