What is Pain Management?
The type of pain management of an individual requires depends on the level and complexity of the pain. In case the complexity of the pain is very high then the pain management may require a larger variety of techniques and skills to treat it. Pain management can consist of a lot of procedures and methods in treating the pain.

What are the Basic Types of Pain an Individual goes through?
There can be various causes or sources of pain. The types of pain an individual experiences can be classified into two. The first type is said to be the nociceptive pain and the second type is said to be the neuropathic pain. Based on the classification of the type of pain
the pain management is given to a person.

The Types of Pain can be Classified as follows:

  • Nociceptive Pain:
  • This is a type of pain where the nervous system of a person is functioning properly, but, the source of pain is caused due to cuts, bruises or broken bone structures.

  • Neuropathic Pain:
  • This type of pain affects the normal functioning of the nerves and the nervous system.

How is the Pain treated in Pain Management?
The treatments in the pain management begins by the analysis of the intensity of the pain. The pain management session begins once the diagnosis of the pain is done. Depending of the complexity and the intensity of pain the pain management is given. The pain management concentrates on finding the source or the cause of the pain and then treating the root cause of pain.

Some of the procedures and the methods used in Pain Management can be outlined as follows:

  • Acupuncture and other alternative therapies.
  • Psychological counseling and support.
  • Physical therapy or chiropractic therapy.
  • Medication management.
  • Interventional procedures.
  • Referral to other medical specialists.

The pain a person experiences in his/her day to day life can be caused to to various reasons. One has to be carefully scrutinize each and every factor that causes the pain in order to treat it.
