Firstly, you should know that a tough fibrous shock-absorbing pad (disc) is located in between each of your bones (vertebrae). In each of your disc contains annulus fibrosus (outer band that is look like tire) that encloses a nucleus pulposus (a gel-like material). Your nerve roots exit your spinal canal through small ways in between discs and vertebrae.
When you suffer from pain or other symptoms, they can be developed when the injured discs pushes into your nerve roots or spinal canal.
When your annulus fibrosus cracks or breaks open, cervical disc herniation happens and makes the nucleus pulposus to leak. Herniated disc or Herniated Nucleus Purpose (HNP) is the name of this occurrence.
