Strep Throat

Strep throat is most commonly known as streptococcal sore throat. It is a certain type of infection caused by the bacteria called beta-haemolytic streptococcus.

Streptococcus affects the tonsils, oral pharynx, and can also lead to flesh eating diseases in extreme conditions. Skin infection caused by streptococcus is generally outward and may lead to kidney diseases.

Causes of Strep Throat:

Strep throat is a common infection which occasionally diverts to severe complications such as kidney disease and rheumatic fever.

Rheumatic fever:

Improper treatment of strep throat may lead to rheumatic fever, which may give way to several heart diseases, it mainly affects the connecting tissues of the body such as skin, heart, brain and joints. This causes damage to a variety of structures and valves,

Kidney disease:

Strep infection causes swelling of the acute glomerulonephritis (kidneys). Though the disease frequently follows impetigo, not more than one percent of all strep infections cause kidney disease. But certain strains of strep are prone to cause such complications,

Symptoms of kidney diseases:

  • Swollen face due to water retention.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Blood in the urine.
  • Headache.
  • Nausea.

These symptoms are seen after 1 ai??i?? 3 weeks of the infection caused. The treatment of this disease is purely based on the kinds of symptoms; preventions can also be taken care, using various anti-biotic drugs and dietary measures.

By taking proteins regularly it is easy to cover the symptoms. Some patients with kidney diseases recover without any permanent complications, but a slight damage in the kidney will lead to kidney transplant or dialysis.
