Do Adults Need Vaccination Too?

The Answer is YES.

Why Are We Complacent?

The need for vaccinations does not cease to exist when a person reaches adulthood. .The probability of getting affected from less known diseases is low and this leads to complacency. Lack of awareness about diseases which require lifelong vaccinations are also a primary reason for complacency.

S.No. The Disease Age / Age Group to get Vaccinated
1. Seasonal Influenza Flu 6 Months and Above
2. Swine Flu 25-64 Years
3. Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis 64 Years and Above
4. Shingles 60 Years and Above
5. Pneumococcal Disease 65 Years and Above

Adult Vaccination in Recent Times:  The present day air we breathe is filled with toxins. Hectic life styles and unhealthy food habits, lack of exercise and sleep deeply affect the human immune system. This makes us prone to attacks of new and dangerous viruses.. An example of this is Swine flu.

Role of Elders in the Family: It is the responsibility of family members to lead by example. They should increase their awareness about vaccination and its significance.. They can  motivate children to get vaccinated. A yearly vaccination of family members, irrespective of the age group, should be the norm of every healthy household.
